1.2 state of PvP

With 1.2 being live for a couple of days now, it's time to talk about the state of PvP. To be clear from the beginning, I won't go through classes' nerfs and buffs as I've done it in a previous post. So, let's start.

One big change is the adjustment to the expertise rating. They have changed the curve of the diminishing returns and now, expertise gives a hell bigger advantage in PvP making PvP gearing up a true upgrade. If we add the healing reduction for all healing classes, you understand that damage dealt means more right now. Melee classes seem to have gotten an overall buff, as they stand better toe-to-toe against ranged dps. Overall, fights are faster and more bursty and for me, Bioware hit in the nail in the head with those changes as their battle system has been accused many times for being clunky and slow.

Sadly, they let a of people down as they didn't solve the low population servers problems. They could either allow cross-server queueing or/and allow server transfers. The second big dissapointment is the withdraw of the rated warzones. Let's hope that they make the correct changes and make rated PvP a smooth and enjoyable feature.

As far as the new warzone, Novare Coast, I'm having a blast and Ι have to admit that it's now, along with Huttball, my favourites. I really really hope, they add some new warzones soon, even if they are different stadiums for Huttball.

To coclude this post, I can't say that I'm dissapointed with 1.2 but I feel that they could do better. Giving free game time is a way to appease the subscribes but if they don't solve the problems, especially the low population servers ones, soon, people are just gonna lose their faith in BW and leave the game.

PvP Guide: Assassin Tip!

Hey guys!

Just tried my friends Assassin and I find him very interesting. A very powerful, very versatile characters, is actually downplayed from people than don't have a clue. Here some fast tricks for you, the people that say that Assassins are glass canons that need to burst to win.

USE YOUR DEFENSIVE ABILITIES!

Deflection 12sec duration, reduces the damage taken by 50%. I suggest to use it at start.

Force Shroud, think Cloak of Shadows here for WoW's rogues, Removes all hostile removable effects and increases your chance to resist Force and tech attacks by 100% for 3 seconds. That means 2 instant attacks. Does not break Stealth but it should be used before Force Cloak, the ability that puts you back to stealth. That way, any DoTs on you won't put you out of Stealth.

ASSASSINS CAN HEAL THEMSELVES!

Best COMBO EVER!

Force Cloak+Mind Trap+Seethe

Force Cloak puts you and your opponent out of combat and that means that you can Mind Trap them, stunning them and let's you Seethe to restore your life.

I would suggest to first force you opponent to use his CC ability early so when you use the combo he would be useless while you are regaining your health.

That's for now, PvP Assassin burst will come soon!

List of CCs per Class

I've noticed during the past days, at picked up pugs something a little risky. Most pugs have 2 melee dps. Worse, some pugs don't have enough classes with CC abilities. Even though all classes have their stuns/interrupts/slows not all of them have long CC abilities that would take a mob out of battle for a minute. So, this is a small list of CCs per classes to be able to plan ahead when you're forming your groups:

  1. Slice Droid – Imperial Agent
  2. Sleep Dart – Operative
  3. Disable Droid – Sith Marauder
  4. Whirlwind – Sith Sorceror
  5. Mind Trap – Sith Assassin
  6. Concussion Missile – Mercenary.

Remember that CCs will make your life easier. Some bosses that are unbeatable otherwise will be a piece of cake with the correct coordination and correct CC.

See ya!
